On its fifth year, the Short Film Competition of Benagalbón will be one of the main pillars of the Cultural Week of Rincón de la Victoria. This contest will be held on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th of May. This fifth edition will also have the recognition of Adelfa Calvo, actress from Málaga and recent winner of a Goya.
The Short Film Competition of Benagalbón, known as CORTOBEN, is part of the Cultural Week, which this year celebrates its 29th edition. In 2018, this contest celebrates its fifth edition and seeks to maintain the idea with which it was born: to promote the dissemination of short films in this town and to focus on young filmmakers.
Contest prizes range are between 300 € and 100 € (click here to check the bases). In previous years, famous actors and actresses like Eduardo Duro, Nuria González, Juanma Lara and Jaime Ordóñez, recognized for their career path, attended CORTOBEN.
Until next Saturday 21st of April, the registration period is still opened for all those who want to try their luck. The semifinals will be held on May 2nd and 3rd, from 18:00 to 20:00. The grand finale will be held on Saturday 5th of May, from 18.30 to 20.30 with live music and a ceremony full of huge surprises. All the short films will be screened at the Centro de Estudios para el Folklore de Benagalbón.
It will be an emotional and important ceremony for the whole province. Not only Adelfa Calvo will be awarded, but also a tribute will be paid to the multifaceted director Fernando Ruiz, from which one of his best shorts will be screened. The ceremony will be attended by the actor Chico Garcia, who will collect the recognition of Fernando Ruiz.
In addition, the trophies will be renewed this year and its high quality will be remarkable. The winners will receive artistic pieces made by Nino del Pozo, one of the most outstanding figures of special effects in Spain and who has been working in London on the famous TV series “Doctor Who”.
