Next Sunday, January 19th, comes the VII La Capitana Challenge, and in this edition with record participation. 1100 athletes, 180 runners more than last edition and not only that: the female participation has grown a 5%, from 170 to 250 women.
The sport event, organized by the Athletics Club and the Sports Department of the Rincón de la Victoria City Council, has created a route through the beach and mountain areas of the municipality with two different lengths: a first one of 25 kilometers, scoring for the Provincial Cup Circuit of the Diputación de Málaga, and a second of 16 kilometers.
This edition will count on the presence of outstanding figures of this sport like the María Bravo , an athlete who won several races at provincial and regional level, and is the contributes honorably with her image in the promotional poster.
The two routes start from the beach of Torre de Benagalbón, in the Old Station and run through the mountain climbing up to Cerro Salazar by multiple paths, with arrival to the finish line in the Municipal Pavilion Rubén Ruzafa. The participants of the 25 km test, aimed to the ones over eighteen years will leave at 09:30 hours, and the next ones at 10.30 hours, which can also participate cadets and youth.
The route will run through the mountains of the municipality, the best known being Cerro del Tío Cañas and Cerro Salazar (La Capitana), which is 562 metres above the sea level.
The one of 25 km goes up to Cerro Tío Cañas being a more demanding, hard and technical race than the one of 15 km, a more affordable and faster route, but also going up to Cerro Salazar. The 25 km distance has 4 refreshment posts and the 15 km distance has 3.

The bib presentation will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Rincón de la Victoria Shopping Centre from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00. On Sunday, in the race start area from 08:00 to 09:00. To pick up the bib is compulsory will be needed your DNI, and in the case of being sport federated also the federal license.
