May arrives and presents the Copla (poetic form of a Spanish popular songs) in the municipality of Rincón de la Victoria. The VI Spanish Song Contest Rincón de la Victoria In Memoriam Marifé de Triana will be held during the month of May. Plus, it will be finished in coincidence with Rincón de la Victoria Fair in the month of July.
This year’s contest will participate 26 artists from different provinces of Andalusian as Málaga, Sevilla, Cádiz, and one representative of Badajoz. Last year, the winner of the V Copla Contest was Eva María Hierro, from the municipality of Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz).
The preliminaries will take place on Fridays 11th, 18th and 23rd of May. This 2018 edition will present five prizes worth a total sum of 2.500 €, a trophy and the record of a demo of four themes to the first prize, so the winner.
Semifinals will be held at Peña El Piyayo in Rincón de la Victoria (How to get there). The five finalists must hold an award show on Saturday 21st of July at the premises of Peña Flamenca El Piyayo.
According to the rules of the contest, the participants will perform two songs. Also, they won’t be able to repeat songs in the semifinal nor in the final. The minimum age to participate is 15 years. The jury is composed of specialists and experts from the copla world.
