The Trail Challenge La Capitana increases its potential in this seventh edition. For the first time, this long-distance race held in Rincón de la Victoria will present two distances, 25 kilometres and the new 15 kilometres distance, which is also a novelty at the calendar of the Provincial Trail Cup of Málaga. La Capitana will take place next Sunday, January 20th.

920 runners from all over Andalusia, from the rest of Spain and even from abroad have already registered for this appointment that has earned a reputation since its first edition back in 2013. To such an extent that even the athletes’ identification numbers were sold out more than a month before the day of the race.

Runners from United Kingdom, Switzerland, Holland and Germany do not want to miss this event that has an apparent tourism component as it is much more than a simple sporting event. For the participants, there will be a positive elevation of 1,500 meters in the main race and 700 meters in the 15 kilometres race.

Another strong point of this high participation in this test organized by the City Council of Rincón de la Victoria along with the Rincón de la Victoria Athletics Club has been the possibility for cadet and junior runners to participate in the 15km race.

As it happened last year, the departure of La Capitana will take place from the old railway station of Torre de Benagalbón on the shores of the Mediterranean sea. T finish line will be located at the Rubén Ruzafa Pavilion. 350 runners will take the start point in the 25-kilometre race starting at 10:00AM, while the rest will leave at 10.30AM for the 15-kilometre race.

As a new feature, this seventh edition of La Capìtana can be considered as an “Eco-friendly” race. Therefore, plastic cups will not be distributed at the refreshment centers, so all of us can contribute to the environment by reducing the use of plastics and also taking care of the environment of the race.

It is worth to take into account the participation of up to 200 volunteers who will ensure the safety of the participants and the best test options from start to finish.
