The Department of Culture of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall together with the Peña El Piyayo have announced the start of the X Flamenco Singing Competition for Young People “Rincón Flamenco”.

The qualifying rounds will start on Saturday 22 March, and also on the 29th. The final will take place on 12 April. All sessions will be open to the public.

The first prize will be 1,500 euros, plus a contract for a performance in the “Recitales de Otoño” (Autumn Recitals) held by the peña. The second and third prizes will be 700 and 500 euros, respectively.

The young singers, aged between 16 and 30, come from Málaga, Seville, Córdoba, Huelva and Badajoz. Each contestant will perform three cantes, including an obligatory cante por malagueñas.

The jury is made up of people of recognised prestige in the field of flamenco.
