The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), announced today that the third award of the ‘Boquerón de Plata’ of Rincón de la Victoria will be given this year to the Malaga Remedios Cervantes, who takes the witness of the filmmaker Salvador Calvo.
Salado explained that “there have been many reasons to grant such a distinction” to Remedios Cervantes .Among them, the many years she has lived in Rincón de la Victoria: “During her childhood, when he spent the summer in La Cala Del Moral, and, already in her adult stage, when she settled for twelve years in Rincón de la Victoria, where she enjoyed the municipality combining her stage as an actress in the well-known Andalusian seria Arrayán and other works in Madrid”.
Now, in his stage in Valencia where he has his company R Medios Marketing, Remedios Cervantes shows off his link with Rincón de la Victoria and her special adoration for our Virgen del Carmen.
It is “a more than deserved award for a woman who flags Rincon de la Victoria wherever she goes and that is part of her DNA” affirms the mayor, who has been in charge of communicating the distinction to Remedios Cervantes.
“It is an honor to receive the Boquerón de Plata because I presume precisely to be Boquerona wherever I go, Malaga pro with a corner soul. Always faithful to my appointment with the Virgen del Carmen every time I go down to Malaga. And, of course, after seeing the queen of the seas my second date is to eat fish on that promenade that brings me such good and beautiful memories. The award ceremony will be held within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid next Tuesday, January 18 at 9:00 p.m at the Intercontinental Hotel in Madrid (Paseo de la Castellana, 49).
The ‘Boquerón de Plata’ award was born with the idea of highlighting and extolling the professional and human work of people from Culture, Sport, Gastronomy or society in general who have a relationship with Rincón de la Victoria. And in previous years Salva Reina (actor and monologuist) and Salvador Calvo (film director) have been the winners.

The Victorian Boquerón Gala is being held this year at the Intercontinental Hotel in Madrid.
The Councilor for Tourism of Rincón de la Victoria, Antonio José Martín (PP), explained that “we return to move to Madrid a little piece of our Party of Boquerón, bringing cooking and live music, where the anchovy, the gastronomy of Malaga and the tourist attractions of Rincón de la Victoria will be the main protagonists”.
In addition to the delivery of the ‘Boquerón de Plata’, the gala will be the stage for the presentation of the fourth recipe book ‘De Rincón, el boquerón´ in which more than twenty local chefs and Malaga capital who belong to the Network of Restaurants of the Victorian Boquerón have participated.”This fourth recipe book comes to expand the gastronomic library that we began to develop in 2019 that shows the versatility of a fish as ours as the anchovy (Boquerón).
Signature recipes, traditional, creative, international and even sweets that put the gastronomic focus in one of the most popular products of the gastronomy of Rincón de la Victoria”, adds Martín.
This year, in addition to the anchovy, other very outstanding products of the Malaga table will be gastronomic protagonists and, more specifically, of the region of the Axarquía, such as the subtropicals, raisins and wine.
All attendees will be able to taste some dishes made with these raw materials, such as, for example,an ajoblanco with smoked sardine and raisin sorbet from Malaga, a salad of roasted peppers with anchovies and quail eggs or a mullet with tiger milk and subtropical from the Axarquía.
For the live cooking there will be two local chefs, Álvaro Saura, from Liceo Playa, and Iván Bravo, from Rincón Knaya, that will teach attendees how different dishes are made where they will praise the Malaga pantry.
As every year, the event is a meeting point for entrepreneurs linked to the tourism sector,specialized press, chefs from the Community of Madrid and authorities.
