The town celebrates its patron saint festivity in honour of the Virgen de la Candelaria. from 31st of January to the 2nd of February. with a great programme of activities, including musical performances by Mojinos Escozíos, Javier Ojeda and the creators of the agro-pop No me Pises que Llevo Chanclas.
The proclamation of this traditional celebration will be held on Wednesday the 29th of January at 19:00 pm in the Church of Benagalbón and will be led by Antonio Ortega Dominguez and Adolfo Cisneros.In the same event, it will be presented the Fair’s oficial poster, whose author this year is Natalia Ruiz Paniagua.
The great party will then begin on Friday 31st of January at 10:00 am with a “diana floreada” through the streets of the town, by the the funny Sioké Charanga.
At 13:00 the Daytime Fair will be opened, and the great free popular paella will delight those attending, with the flamenco fusión rhythms of the Sephora band accompanying the event.
At 23:00, the Night Fair will begin at the Caseta Oficial, with performances by Electroduendes, Javier Ojeda and the Banda del Capitán Inhumano, after which the night will be closed by DJ Hurtado.
The First Panda de Verdiales from Benagalbón opens the Saturday evening, and at 16:00, the public may enjoy the shows by the comedian Toni Rodríguez and the flamenco group Callejón.
At 23:00, the creators of agropop (a musical style derived from pop, with shades of humor and improvisation under flamenco roots), the legendary No me Pises que Llevo Chanclas will be at the Caseta oficial. Afterwards, DJ SAU will make sure that the crowd dances late into the night.
On Sunday, February 2nd, the Fair celebrates the Rocío Mass in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria and the presentation of the new Mayordomos and the children born throughout the year.
The great performance of the night will be given by El Sevilla and his band Los Mojinos Escozíos, who will close the fair together with DJ Oliver.
As another option for both youth and seniors, the Teleclub Caseta will offer performances by the Seño de los Cuentos, Acuario Theater Lago Rojo Orchestra, Alexis Sacarrisas, Adolfo Cisneros and Raquel Santiago, Rocío Alba and Rafa Garcel.
The procession of the Virgen de la Candelaria and San José will be held on Friday the 31st of January at 6:30 pm, and on Sunday the 2nd of February through the streets of Benagalbón.
