Three verses from three different poems by Manuel Alcántara. This is the starting point for the literary challenge proposed by the Asociación de Amigos de la Biblioteca de Benagalbón (Association of Friends of the Library of Benagalbón) at the Creative Writing Contest “Celebrando a Manuel Alcántara”. A “must-see” challenge, for lovers of literature, framed on the VI Encuentro de Clubes de Lectura (Reading Clubs) during the XXXIX Cultural Week of Benagalbón.
For the sixth year, the Cultural Week of Benagalbón (the oldest one held in the municipality of Rincón de la Victoria in Málaga) proposes a meeting among reading clubs aimed at any literary figure. On his 90th birthday, Manuel Alcántara has been the chosen one for the event, as well as to pay a special tribute to him. No need for presentation, Alcántara is a journalist, writer, poet and leading figure in Spanish literature.

This year, the Cultural Week of Benagalbón will be held between April 27th and May 6th, although the bases of the literary contest are now available for all those who want to participate. (More info about the bases) (Download bases)

This contest has the support of the Culture Department of the City Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, as well as the Foundation Manuel Alcántara. Besides, the Foundation will give five works of the author to the five winning poems. The deadline to submit the poems is April 16th.

The winning poems will be read in public, by their authors or people they choose, during the XXXIX Cultural Week of Benagalbón, in the VI Public Meeting of Reading Clubs, which will take place on April 27, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. at the Centro de Estudios del Folclore Malagueño de Benagalbón.
